Expansion for carers support group into Kinloch and Pairc

Seann Eolaich are a voluntary group supporting unpaid carers who are readjusting to life without caring for a loved one. Muaitheabhal Community Wind Farm Trust have awarded a grant to Seann Eolaich so that they can add extra support, and expand outside Stornoway, into Kinloch and Pairc.

Alison Mackay, Chair of Seann Eolaich, said “This grant will really enable us to expand our services with counselling and relaxation sessions, and expand beyond Stornoway – we currently run monthly meetings at the Stornoway Bowling Club, but this support will mean we can engage with venues, groups and individuals in Kinloch and Pairc. There are many people providing unpaid care for family members who must adjust to life once those family members have sadly passed away or gone into a care setting. It is a very significant readjustment to make.”

Donnie Morrison, Board Member of Muaitheabhal Community Wind Farm Trust, said “We were delighted to support Seann Eolaich with this grant. In only three years they have absolutely proved their importance to the community with growing membership and high engagement levels, and we look forward to seeing them expand their services.”
